An Invisible but Potential Resource: Geothermal Energy in Urban Areas

Description

This half-day visit introduces participants to urban geothermal energy. The tour begins with an overview of geothermal systems: how aquifers are used for heat exchange, how water is injected and extracted, and how it helps regulate temperature in buildings.

Experts will guide you through the facilities, illustrating the pumps, heat exchangers, and reinjection systems. You'll also learn about monitoring tools used to measure temperature and water quality, as well as the environmental and economic advantages of this technology.

Timetable

  • 8:00 am: Meeting point at Politecnico di Torino
  • 8:45 am: Visit to geothermal plant site
  • 1:00 pm: End of visit – free time
