Valdieri & Lurisia

Where Everything Flows: Valdieri & Lurisia Thermal Baths and Madame Curie Gallery

Description

This full-day trip explores two iconic thermal sites in the Cuneo area. The Royal Thermal Baths of Valdieri are known for their sulfur-sulfate-bicarbonate-sodium waters, reaching temperatures of up to 65°C. These waters are historically used for various therapeutic treatments and can be experienced in their natural setting during the visit.

In the afternoon, the group will visit the Madame Curie Tunnel at Lurisia SPA, originally excavated for quartzite extraction and later discovered to contain radioactive autunite minerals, attracting the interest of Marie Curie. This tunnel is one of the most radioactive natural water sites globally and represents a unique intersection between geology and medical history.
